Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Tomato sauce:

  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 yellow diced onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 36 oz marinara sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Cheese Mixture:

  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzerella cheese
  • 1/4 cup shredded parmesan
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Cook lasagna noodles
  3. Brown beef, sausage, onion, and garlic. Drain fat.
  4. Stir in pasta sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, 1/2 tsp salt. and 1/4 tsp pepper. Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
  5. Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in a 9×13 pan. Top with 3 lasagna noodles. Layer with 1 cup of ricotta cheese mixture and 1 cup of meat sauce. Repeat twice more. Finish with 3 noodles and remaining sauce.
  6. Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes
  7. Remove foil and sprinkle lasagna with 2 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese and 1/4 cup parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered for additional 15 minutes. Broil 2-3 minutes if desired.
